My First Bribe

Today I bribed my way through a police officer who worked under Mr Sivanandam from R8 police station near Valasarawalkam.

I hate corruption but today I became a coward and did not fight back. I was afraid of their powers.

The Dirtailed Report

I had to go to Valasarawalkam and asked a share-auto அண்ணா, "how-to".

He pointed to take the second left. I was about to enter the second left where I saw people driving on both the ways. So I waited on the corner of the road and looked for signs about the road.

 

Just then a police officer approached me and asked me to park my vehicle inside the left road.

He asked me if I knew that the road was a one-way. I explained him how I was misdirected by a share-auto driver and that's why I was waiting by the road end. He then asked me to go check out the NO-ENTRY board. But the board was on the left road which was clear only after somebody's taken the left.

 

I tried to explain but in vain.

 

That's when our inspector, the afore mentioned Mr Sivanandam suggested the police officer to collect a fine of Rs.300/-

But our inspector took me behind the police van and asked me to pay Rs.100/- and leave.

By then I was aware of the "GOOD COP, BAD COP" game played by the officers. I had just Rs.200/- in my pocket and "I WAS AFRAID TO TALK BACK"

So, I gave in to corruption and paid MY FIRST BRIBE - RS.100/-

 

I am afraid that this would just be the first step of a journey unknown.

 

P.S. - I have been into accidents on obeying traffic rules. I have so many BUS DRIVER enemies coz I don't move from the STOP line until the traffic lights go green.
